LaySIM - Other Interfaces

  1. Interfaces to certain simulators are built in to the LayTOOLS schematic entry products (LayCIR). The interfaces required by the user are considered as options that must be defined at purchase.

Interfaces exist not only for the simulators which form part of the LayTOOLS software (SMASH kernel, for example), but also for other products commonly used and available on the market, not distributed by matricus. These include:

  Agilent ADS
  SymSPICE
  SIMetrix

Agilent ADS

LayTOOLS offers a proven interface to the RF simulator of the Advanced Design System (ADS) developed by Agilent. The interface allows back-annotation onto the LayCIR schematics.

Advanced Design System is the leading electronic design automation software for many advanced designs including RF, microwave, and signal integrity applications. ADS pioneers the most innovative and commercially successful technologies, such as X-parameters (a super-set of S-parameters) and 3D EM simulators, which are used by leading companies in the wireless communication, networking, aerospace, and defense industries. For WiMAX™, LTE, multi-gigabit per second data links, radar, & satellite applications, ADS provides full, standards-based design and verification with Wireless Libraries and circuit-system-EM co-simulation in an integrated platform.

SymSPICE

SymSPICE is an original SPICE circuit simulator completely developed by the Symica R&D team. SymSPICE provides simulation speed and accuracy at the "golden" SPICE level. SymSPICE supports all commonly used transistor models and is compatible with industry-standard net-list formats.

SIMetrix

 LayTOOLS provides an interface to the SIMetrix simulator. This simulator has a number of forms, depending on the application to be addressed:

SIMetrix AD Plus - for general analog design primarily at the pcb level
SIMetrix VX - with Verilog-A and Verilog-HDL
SIMetrix Micron VX - for integrated circuit design
