Home → FAQ → Utilities Design Management FAQ1. LAYPLOT returns with a message “Invalid Video Card” Please set the display to16-Bit (high) color instead of 24/32-Bit (true) color mode. 2. How do I run LayTOOLS utilities? Most utilities are DOS executable files to be found in the LayTOOLS TOOLS directory (under the installation directory). Many are run from the LayED and LayVER applications through graphics user interfaces so that the executable location and options are transparent to the user. Further, the database tools may be run from the DbxMAN utility. In some cases, however, the user may find it convenient to run the tools as stand-alone programs, and this may be accomplished either from a command window (in Windows environment this would be a DOS window) or by incorporating the utility in a batch file. 3. What are the functions of all the utilities? Documentation is available that covers all the utilities, describing the parameters and qualifiers associated with each tool. Note that some tools have been superseded by more advanced programs - the earlier ones remain, however, since many users have incorporate them into production macro files. Brief descriptions are to be found on this web site (see Utilities ).
